PCI Express Bandwidth & Lane Bifurcation Planner

Estimate theoretical one-way PCIe bandwidth by generation and lane width, then check x4 NVMe lane allocations against a root-port budget.

One-way line-rate estimate = GT/s × encoding efficiency × lanes ÷ 8. Gen 1–2 use 8b/10b; Gen 3–5 use 128b/130b; Gen 6 uses the PCI-SIG 8 GB/s per lane one-way headline before workload-specific overhead. Device and board link training may negotiate fewer lanes.
